On November 23rd, 2013 the Thirty Years MSX Event (TYME) was held in Amsterdam. One of the many highlights of that evening was an amazing performance of the innovative string trio West Side Trio accompanied by visuals of Zanne. Together, they performed their interpretations of 5 classic MSX game songs that are engraved in each of our memories.

Shortly after TYME we already published a video of Carola Cortenbach singing 1983. We are now pleased to announce the availability of the complete performance on our YouTube channel. You can choose to either listen to the complete, uncut performance or to each track individually.

In chronological order, the tracks performed are:

  1. SD-Snatcher (second intro demo)
  2. Illusion City (intro demo)
  3. L'Affaire (BGM)
  4. Metal Gear (Theme of Tara)
  5. Dragon Slayer VI (intro demo)

Special thanks go out not only to West Side Trio and Zanne for making this possible, but also to Konami, Nihon Falcom and MicroCabin for allowing us to publish this footage on YouTube for you all to enjoy. Now sit back, relax, and enjoy 30 minutes of MSX magic.

Come on, guys, a bit more appreciation for the hard work of Zanne and West Side Trio, this evening was awesome! My personal favorites are L'Affaire and Metal Gear. What about yours?

Kojima would probably appreciate that one as well, I suppose/hope...

I really liked the jazzy vibe they gave the Metal Gear song, but also the Dragon Slayer 6 theme was cool Smile

A bit of a shame the (whole) event never got a nice article / report on the site afterwards.

Felt somewhat like a great diner with a missing dessert to me.. Wink I mean, after all the preparations, the announcements/anticipation, and of course the very nice event itself, a nice report would've been just Smile

But it remained fairly silent for a while, this news post emerged after a month, when the momentum already seemed to 've been fairly gone.

Perhaps the MRC peeps were lacking motivation, energy or time? xoxo

Personally, considering the time and money spent on this event, we got very little response afterwards. So I was in a serious 'fuck you all' modus for quite some time Smile But hey, that's just life. It's something we all encounter every now and then....

Sorry to hear that, and yes, reactions, at least on the site, were rather sparse.. Perhaps quite some people there that don't actively participate here? (Or they just suck balls of course.. Wink)

♫ Flying over the mountains... (hi wolf_ ;))
(Very cool arrangement.. As a certain bit used sounds quite familiar, I wonder if that's a reference to another (classical) composition (and perhaps there's more than one) ?)

(Hehe, hearing Colossus Planet Theme will never be the same again..)

Reactions on this website are yet, still sparse, even to none sometimes. Sharing content over social media, has sometimes ( not always ) a better result, even though people just like the post or retweet the stuff at least you notice in a way people actually respond to the updates. News on website is a nice resource, but when it comes to communication these days, social media is the actual key to reach the community.
To give a minor example: placed a request for help on translating the genres on the website, while I was reprogramming and reorganising the content, within an hour I received an excel sheet. Would I have made a topic in the forums, I guess even over a year, there wouldn't be a result. There has been barely any response, even though when you have no experience at all, they guide you to every little thing that is needed to get the job done.
