RAGAZZE QUARTET

Na het succesvolle album met strijkkwartetten van Haydn, Schubert en Widemann brengt het jonge Nederlands/Britse Ragazze Quartet een prachtig programma met muziek van Erwin Schulhoff en Antonin Dvorak. In navolging van zijn leermeester Dvorak gebruikt Schulhoff volksmuziek om zowel het eerste als het derde deel van zijn eerste strijkkwartet te laten swingen. Ook verkent Schulhoff andere genres zoals dat te horen valt in het Esquisses de Jazz voor piano. In deze bewerking van Leonard Evers laat het Ragazze Quartet perfect horen met hoeveel passie Schulhoff in de jazzmuziek opgaat. In één van zijn laatste strijkkwartetten horen we een gelouterde Dvorak, die terug in Europa opnieuw lokale thema’s oppakt. Een enerverend album waarbij de vier dames uitstekend op elkaar zijn ingespeeld en daarmee een topalbum afleveren.
